REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Possesses safe knife handling skills
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
• High school graduate or GED
• Must have at least 1 year of relevant experience or education in a large food operation or quantity food production to include 6 months of food preparation
• Ability to accurately perform mathematic and recipe conversion calculations
• Reads, writes, understands and communicates in English
• Must be able to stand up for 4 hours at a time
• Must have valid driver's license.

*A pre-employment physical examination is required prior to hire.

About the Job

This position is 12 months continuing and 40 hours weekly, scheduled as needed determined by business needs, however, primary business hours are 10:00 am to 6:30 pm.

The starting salary is $15.69 hourly.

There may be work reduction or a change of hours during semester breaks.

DUTIES:
• Understanding and working with computer generated orders.
• Working with a wide variety of equipment, including but not limited to: chaffing pans, coffee makers, hot carts, ovens and dishwashers.
• Setting up orders prior to service. May require traying-up, proofing and/or baking par-baked items, and preparing items including, but not limited to, upscale hors d'oeuvres, fruit and vegetable trays, box lunches, salads, etc.
• Delivery of orders; may need to use a van or cube truck
• Communication shortages of food and/or supplies needed prior to actual service.
• Prepare supply items prior to actual events.
• Responsible for making coffee, tea, punch, etc.
• Responsible for all aspects of guest services.
• Follow established food handling procedures.
• Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in work areas, following established procedures.
• Push carts with food and supplies to many different areas (on and off campus to various events.)
• Observe and communicate to supervisor temperatures and variations that are not up to standards.
• Handle dishes and report breakage to supervisor.
• Contributes to the Dining Services Team by assisting and working with individuals from multiple ethnic and cultural backgrounds (i.e. race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status, disability, public assistance status, veteran status, or sexual orientation).
• Catering Senior Food Service Workers functions as a lead worker: Is given oversight responsibility of a group of employees in the absence of a manager; Handles customer service issues in the absence of a manager; Orients employees to job area and to the facility; Trains employees on job tasks; Assigns and re-assigns tasks throughout the shift to effectively accomplish prescribed work; Gives direction to employees concerning procedures; Communicates established standards of performance to employees;
Assesses the work of employees for conformance to standards; Provides informal feedback of employee's performance to the supervisor; Models expected behaviors and standards
Keeps manager apprised of operational issues
